Walk In Doctors In Houston

Townsen Physician Group prioritizes same-day scheduling for sick visits whenever our schedule allows, so patients are rarely waiting more than a day to be seen for a sudden illness or worsening symptoms. Our front desk team keeps a portion of each day's schedule open specifically for these unplanned visits.

Calling ahead helps our front desk team confirm your insurance and prepare for your visit, which generally reduces your wait time once you arrive, compared to walking into an unfamiliar clinic completely unannounced and hoping for an opening.

Calling ahead is strongly recommended so our team can offer you the soonest available same-day slot and confirm your insurance before you arrive, which helps your visit move faster once you are actually in the office and being seen.

That said, our front desk will always do their best to accommodate patients who arrive without a scheduled appointment, based on same-day availability at that particular time and how the rest of the day's schedule looks.

Yes. As a doctor for cold and flu near you, Townsen Physician Group sees these symptoms regularly and can typically evaluate and treat them during a single, focused same-day appointment, without requiring a separate follow-up visit for routine cases.

Because our physicians already have access to your health history, we can also flag whether cold or flu symptoms might be pointing toward something else worth investigating further, rather than assuming every symptom fits the obvious explanation.

A same day sick visit is generally appropriate for symptoms like fever, sore throat, ear pain, sinus congestion, or stomach upset that are uncomfortable but not life threatening and have started somewhat suddenly, disrupting your normal routine.

Milder symptoms that have been present for a while without worsening may not need same-day attention, though our front desk team can help you decide when you call if you are unsure whether your situation calls for prompt evaluation.

Urgent primary care in Houston is generally the right choice for symptoms like fever, cold or flu symptoms, minor injuries, or infections that are uncomfortable but not immediately dangerous to your overall health or safety.

Symptoms such as chest pain, difficulty breathing, sudden severe pain, or signs of a stroke should always be treated as emergencies. Please go to the nearest emergency room or call 911 for these situations rather than scheduling a same-day visit.

Sick visits are appropriate for symptoms like fever, sore throat, ear pain, sinus congestion, or stomach upset that are uncomfortable but not life threatening. These are the most common reasons patients schedule same-day visits with us throughout the year.

If symptoms are mild and appear to be improving on their own, waiting a day or two before scheduling is often reasonable, though our team is always happy to help you make that call over the phone if you are uncertain either way.

If Townsen Physician Group is your regular primary care provider, your sick visit is automatically added to your existing health record, so your care team stays fully informed going forward without any extra effort required on your part.

If you see a different primary care doctor elsewhere, we can provide a visit summary you can share directly, or send records over ourselves if you would like us to coordinate that communication on your behalf after your appointment.

Yes. Both new and returning patients can schedule a same-day sick visit at Townsen Physician Group, though returning patients benefit from our team already having their health history and prior visits on file before they even arrive.

New patients are welcome to establish care during a sick visit, and our physicians will work with whatever health history and information you are able to provide at that first appointment to guide your treatment.

Yes. New patients are welcome for sick visits, though bringing whatever health history or records you have available helps your provider make more informed decisions during your first visit, especially for anything beyond a straightforward illness.

Many patients who come in as new patients for a sick visit end up establishing Townsen Physician Group as their ongoing primary care provider afterward, once they see firsthand how the visit and follow-up communication actually go.

Townsen Physician Group works with a broad network of insurance providers, including Aetna, United Healthcare, BlueCross BlueShield, Medicare, HealthSmart, Cigna, and Superior HealthPlan, covering a wide range of patients who come to us for sick visits.

Our front desk team can verify your specific coverage before your visit, so you understand any costs upfront and there are no surprises after you are seen, particularly if any additional testing is recommended during your appointment.
